A Case Study on Dance Movement Therapy Experience Among Youths in Juvenile Training School

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to understand and explore dancemovement therapy experience among youths in juvenile training schools. In this study, five male youths aged 16 to 19 who participated in 15 sessions of dance movement therapy from May 2017 to December 2017 were interviewed in depth twice. Data were collected from January 30th, 2018 to April 16th, 2018. Interview was conducted and analyzed using qualitative research method proposed by Stake (2000). The analysis of the data related to dance movement therapy experience among youths in juvenile training school identified 18 themes. Seven essential themes (Prejudice between group members; lack of awareness of dance therapy; emotional stability; expansion of self-awareness; improvement of social skills; development of self-control; and change here and now) were then found. Findings of this study identify such positive as well as negative aspects relating to dance movement therapy and can provide basic data for implementing it in juvenile training schools.
